Interview and Exploration is, how they descibe themselves, a company that „provides all services in classical ad-hoc market research to the clients satisfaction“. This basically means providing facilities and probands to let external companys research new marketing strategies or improve their products.
In July 2010 the Company approached me to create a film that shows how they function internally and let outsiders gain an insight on their operational sequences.
The tricky part was that the film has to cater to two different audiences. On the one hand they have clients, which basically know about the workflow but might want to get more information about the facilities on site, like environment and equipment. On the other hand they want to explain their probands the way modern marketing research works and make the whole process more transparent to them, so they know what to expect when attending a survey.
So we developed a film which basically is a walk through the company. It starts at Potsdamer Platz, where I&E is located, and then takes the viewer up to their premises. Here we go through the marketing research process as a proband would experience it. Reception, waiting, survey and in the end the information leaves I&E by bicycle courier. Additionally the viewer gets to know processes and locations which wouldn‘t be noticed by a proband just attending a survey, like the surveillance rooms, client catering, cameras and the sound studios. To make processes, locations and positions more clear to the viewer, I added tags to different persons in the film via motion tracking.
